St. Eugene de Mazenod House in Sahalava

Hits: 1138

St. Eugene de Mazenod Parish in Sahalava was built in 2003. There are about 5600 parishioners. Every year, about 500 children attend catechism classes. Many Catholic groups for children, youth, and adults also work at the parish.

The parish also has initiatives to support seniors, and the poor. All of these initiatives, of which I spoke, need a place to host their meetings. For 13 years, we had many difficulties organizing celebrations and teaching catechism classes. That is why the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate on Madagascar designed the St. Eugene de Mazenod Parish house in 2012, submitting the project to many different organizations. It took 3 years to achieve a positive response.

On March 17, 2016, the cornerstone was laid. On May 21, 2017, the parish house was blessed by Bp. Fulgence Rabemahafaly, the archbishop of the Diocese of Fianarantsoa.

This house includes a large auditorium, 3 classrooms for catechism for 40 children each, 3 offices, storage, kitchen, and bathroom. Thanks to this house, we can continue many initiatives in our parish, most importantly, catechism classes for over 500 children

Thank you once again to our benefactors, whose donations helped realize this project.
