On Sunday May 16, 2010 in Morondava, in the region of Menabe, more than 12,000 people assembled for the Episcopal ordination of Father Marie Fa bien Raharilamboniaina, who was provincial of the Carmelite Fathers on the Indian ocean. Father Fabien was the founder of the Carmelite missions on Maurycius and on Reunion. For the last five years, he had been pastor in St. Louis parish on Reunion. In April he departed from the island of Reunion, in order to prepare himself for his new mission – as bishop of Morondava.
« The visit of the relics of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus on Madagascar reflected the moral and religious life of all the people ». These are the words of President Henry Rajaonari during the coming of the two relics: one relic was the mother of Theresa” Zela and Martin, and the second that of Theresa. Both relics came on Saturday August 8th, 2015 in the afternoon at the airport in Morondava, following the visit in Fort Dauphin and Ihosy. The first lady Voahangy Rajaonarimampianina, premier John Ravelonarivo and his wife, minister of internal matters Mahafaly Solonandrasana Olivier and many individ-uals of the world on Madagascar: Antananarivo, Antsiranana, Mahajanaga, Miari-narivo, Toamasina, Fianarantsoa and Tollagnaro.
The jubilee celebrations were an occasion for: terminating the diocesan synod, which took as its theme: Only Jesus is the real foundation; commemorating of the anniversary of two episcopal ordinations: his Excellency Rabeony Fulgence, archbishop of Tulear (25 years) and his Excellency Joseph Pelletier Donald Leo, emeritus bishop of Morondava (15 years).
